The beat of opposites

I am light and I am shadow,
fire that burns and river that calms.
Two worlds inhabit my skin
who do not confront each other, but embrace each other.

Path on the invisible border
where the wound becomes a song,
where the broken blossoms into wings
and the impossible becomes space.

I am neither half nor fragment,
I am totality in movement.
The universe breathes in my chest
with every pulse of its mystery.

The beat of opposites me
sustains,
not as war, but as dance.
And in the balance of that union
I am reborn again and again.
