Look at me.
Not as one who observes, but as one who awakens.
I am not just skin, nor just shadow.
I am what I was, what I will be, what burns within me now.

I carry wings in my eyes,
because I learned to see beyond fear.
I carry fire in my soul,
because I burned the chains that I once believed were mine.

I breathe.
And in my breath butterflies bloom,
memories transformed into gold,
scars that no longer weigh me down,
pains that now fly away.
